Hendrik Hebben

Hendrik first got in touch with Ballet and Contemporary in 2010. After taking classes in Hip Hop, he started taking classes in other styles of dance during his exchange year in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At Youth Dance Theater of Michigan (now Ballet Chelsea), he started taking classes in Ballet, Modern and Jazz and also participated in their productions of The Nutcracker and in various Recitals. 

 

After returning to his hometown Saarbrücken, he continued taking classes in Ballet and Modern.

2014 marks a very important year for Hendrik, as he was accepted to the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, starting his Bachelor of Arts in Classical and Contemporary Dance. There, for the first time, he got in contact with Improvisation, and studied amongst others Forsythe and Kylián Repertoire, while also working with renowned choreographers, such as Johannis Wieland, Kristel van Issum and Ivan Perez. He wrote his Bachelor Thesis about „Artivism“, which is the connection between Art and Activism.

 

Since leaving Frankfurt, he has been freelancing, dancing in Ballet and Opera productions at Aalto Theater Essen, Opera Frankfurt and more, as well as working in the freelance contemporary dance scene.

He certified in teaching Pilates, and also teaches dance workshops in Germany.
